I have an '82 1.6 n.a. pump on my type 1Y (1.9 n.a.). I turned the pump load limit
screw in as far as the limiting collar would allow and did it (about 1/2 turn all
told) in about two goes. I did it with the engine running but be wary of the belts.
No smoke to speak of, a very noticeable gain in power, and no change in coolant
temp. I just might try removing that limiter collar when I run out of projects.
