diesels, CF IS a diesel rating. It's just not as high a rating as CG or CH.

Part of the idea of viscosity is to provide a cushion between the metal
surfaces, that doesn't get smooshed out by the pressures. The superior
lubrication would give less friction during the "smooshing" process. My
best guess anyway. :)

Not to offend but is the Castrol diesel rated? I looked briefly a couple
of
times and never found a "C" rating on any standard Castrol products. It
also seems to have a tendency to "amber" the internals. A friend stopped
using it when his Subaru turbo rings stuck on him. Switched to a diesel
rated oil for the better detergent abilities (suspend soot/carbon). I've
seen
some of the orchard engines torn down that looked like they'd already been
to the hot tank! No brown, black or amber anywhere. Just shiny metal. :)
