Well when we purchased our 97 Passat, one of the things on the dealer's parts
installed list was a new antenna.  I inquired why, and was told that it wasn't
working... helpful info...  Mebbe the same as you have going on- the thing just
vacuums in stations from farther away that I've been able to get with any other
car. I know it is amplified too, maybe our amp was hooped .  Whatever is going
on now, the factory radio with factory antenna works excellent. Lets keep
fingers crossed.....
