hey everyone...my '85 Jetta TD today developed a starting problem....i drove
it about 30-40 miles this morning on the interstate, parked for about an hour
and when i came back out it wouldn't fire...finally got some help and push
started it...it ran OK, very rough at 1st...made it the 40 miles home....shut
it down and now it won't fire again...I just replaced the fuel filter
thinking it may be clogged....still not lighting up...it will fire
occasionally......I have known for some time that the glow plugs were
going....had trouble during real cold mornings....but I figure the thing
should've still been warm enough to start without the glow plugs....

any suggestions? I hope it's not the compression finally going....also if
anyone is in the Richmond, VA area and would like to lend a hand in
diagnosis, i'd make it worth your while....

Thanks,
John
