[Vwdiesel] Starting Problem

  My brother-in-law had a starting problem with his Volvo diesel and it 
was a DIRTY air filter.  You need fuel, air and compression so filter covers 
the air.  Check for air bubbles in the line.  I had leaks nearly everywhere 
on 
my Rabbit.  If it wasn't parked nose-downhill, and was parked for more 
than 10 minutes, it wouldn't start without a lot of cranking or pressure 
bleeding the system.  Compression is the thing you really hope it isn't!
Low compression usually contributes to hard or impossible cold starts 
and they'll still start maybe, while warm.  Sometimes glow plugs are 
more of a contribution to starting than you think.  Maybe you lost 
another plug and that's why it's not starting.
