My brother-in-law had a starting problem with his Volvo diesel and it
was a DIRTY air filter. You need fuel, air and compression so filter covers
the air. Check for air bubbles in the line. I had leaks nearly everywhere
on
my Rabbit. If it wasn't parked nose-downhill, and was parked for more
than 10 minutes, it wouldn't start without a lot of cranking or pressure
bleeding the system. Compression is the thing you really hope it isn't!
Low compression usually contributes to hard or impossible cold starts
and they'll still start maybe, while warm. Sometimes glow plugs are
more of a contribution to starting than you think. Maybe you lost
another plug and that's why it's not starting.
