    I've often wondered when bidding on car items whether I was bidding
against another listee.  Rigging auctions would eventually get someone into
deep s**t, though.
    As an alternative, if a listee were to post an item number and indicate
a need for it, other potential bidders could either refrain from bidding or
discuss the matter off list.
