[Vwdiesel] 1.6TD -1.6NA crank and rods

  Yes and no.  From everything I could find, the rods are the same.  The 
crank is rumored to be different and it seems I'd heard the journals are 
hardened on the TD or are hardened more.  Once one is ground then 
that hardening is gone and the point is moot.  The only difference I 
could verify is the NA crank has the VW logo, part number, something, 
inset like it would be if stamped.  The TD crank has the same thing only 
it's raised.  I had a bad thrust on mine and it was easier to swap in a 
NA crank I had than send in the TD one to be built up and ground.  It 
woulda cost a small fortune to let the local shops touch it!  I have a much 
more reasonable place.
