I know I should have done more than change the oil over the last 50,000
miles, and I should have got a Manual. But I will buy a manual online this
weekend.

My Jetta acts like the fuel system lost it's prime. It will start but only
after 4 or 5 long stretches of starter operation. When it finally starts it
revs fast for a second then back to normal. It drives fine, good power, no
smoke. It does run hot at speeds over 60. It has 178,000 on it with the
t-belt changed at 125,000. I thought I would go ahead and do the timing belt,
waterpump, and whatever you all recommend. This car was VW serviced before I
got it, and I have all the records. I see no replacement of injectors or
pump. Should I do a compression test first? Where can I buy a diesel
compression tester? Help!! Thanks, Tom
