Yup, sure does. I have a three-speed automatic in my
1992 Jetta ECOdiesel, and although it has enough
acceleration for the freeway, it's not as peppy as it
was with the manual. Still, not having to shift gears
in bumper-to-bumper Houston traffic is more than worth
the power loss.

Miles per gallon: typically about 34.
