  Seems odd that 1 and 2 would suffer oil starvation since it has the
crank nose driven, gear oil pump.  It's closest to 1 and 2 and is generally
considered a much better pump than we have on the 4's.  It also costs
about $250 at discount!  The water pump is like Audi 5 cylinder rather
than the 4's as well.  I originally suspected those long heads would be
more likely to warp and blow gaskets but the one I rebuilt had the
cleanest sealing surfaces I've ever seen on any of these engines.  It
had 99K on it.
