[Vwdiesel] 1.9 NA

As stated, A3 diesels were 1.9td, passats to 96 only.
I'm in Saskatchewan... I could try to source used from wrecks for youse on
the left coast. Shipping would probably be prohibitive for the east... These
engines are pretty hard to come by, not too many get parted out, most cars
get bought complete and restored due to the scarcity and demand for diesel
cars in the west- farmers and their kids know the value of a good diesel.
They are coming in with around 200000kms on, before shipping I can do stuff
like compression tests to verify the numbers provided by the wreckers, check
axial play on turbo, etc. For example... the 1.9td I'm putting in my pickup
at present was "compression tested" by SGI salvage before I bought it. How
this was accomplished I have no idea... neither injectors or glow plugs have
been pulled. Maybe someone there has some way of chanting a mantra and
sacrificing chickens that gets compression values, but for sure they weren't
done on this engine like the tag indicates. I'll do this when the trans is
finally finished (tomorrow maybe?) and I can stick it together and first
check timing for sure so the valves don't kiss( I changed seals and belt)
and mount the starter. It would really suck to ship an engine to find out
it's low on compression or something.
For that matter, there would be nothing wrong with a mechanical tdi (1Z
engine) setup either. Too many wires for my liking as a complete transplant,
but okay to do as a mechanical. They are getting to be a bit more popular as
salvage engines too. Lemme know what you want, I can check on
availability.
