I recently had a Jetta 1.6 TD engine installed in my Caddy. Runs great
but turbo cries out for a free exhaust. I plan to mount a 2 1/2 inch
straight thru exhaust instead of current restrictive NA exhaust with
muffler. Mechanic welded a TD downpipe to the stock exhaust as a
temporary measure. It would be alot easier for me just cutting off
restrictive exhaust pipe under downpipe and adding the larger piping. How
restrictive is the TD downpipe? I wonder if the hassle of making a new
turbo mount flange and elbow is worth the trouble. Also maybe I can get
a better aftermarket exhaust turbo downpipe. Was advised Teutonics makes
something.
