[Vwdiesel] Electrical problem

Occasionally, when my wife starts our 91 vw jetta diesel, the horn
sounds. This morning, it also did not start- almost like the glow plugs
were out.

I used my key and it started up fine- some black smoke from the unburned
fuel, but no horn and glow plugs seemed fine.

The only common element is the combo of wife and her key. I have never
had the problem.

The easy solution is exchange keys and see what happens, but since it
happens so infrequently, I may never see it (she uses the car much more
than I do).

It is not a big problem, but has anyone else run into something similar?
