[Vwdiesel] Who has rear brake drums turned?

I'm thinking about replacing the rear brakes on the Jetta. They've been on there
at least 8 years, and I suspect leaky wheel cylinders, so I might as well do the
brakes too. The car still stops nice and smooth, so the drums probally are not
out-of-round. Who here just sands lightly and puts in new shoes? Last time I did
the rear brakes I had the drums turned for about $16 each and had to wait three
hours for them. Maybe this is a moot question. The may be out of spec anyway. I
guess I should at least have them miced.
