[Vwdiesel] Muffler 88 Jetta , same as 90's Golf???

Long story, but a guy at work told me yesterday he has a brand-new,
in-the-box muffler from a Golf diesel. Sorry, I don't remember the
year---early 90's as I recall.  Will this fit my 88 Jetta Diesel, or have I
not given enough info?



 The muffler itself should, but probably not the pipes. I'd try running it
with a section of straight pipe in place of the muffler, first, though. The
turbo really knocks down a lot of the noise and many people run mufflerless.
Just make sure you get the tip out past the bottom of the car or it could
cause some resonant droning at certain speeds.
