I don't think you will have a problem with it. Although you
should be careful not to hit the powerlines and coax going to
the VW amplified antenna on the roof. I placed my antenna on
the trunk lid with a motorola NMO style mount thru the trunk.
I can run 50 watts on VHF and 35 watts on UHF thru the antenna
there with no problems. I DO have a problem with a trunk mounted
HF rig, running 50-100 watts on 3.9 Mhz causes the rear defogger
inidcator on the dash to light up.
One thing nice about the VE-37 pump on these TDI cars, it is very
quiet electricaly compared to reports that I have heard about
the common-rail type systems on the PS and new cummins engines.
Been thinking about getting a new "SUV" in a year or so and have been
wondering about electrical noise with the new V-10 TDI. I hope that
it is as quiet as my Jetta.
