[Vwdiesel] fuel enrichment

Hi again,
It's been 2 days since I started my newly rebuilt engine. It sounds better than
before. I clogged 1 filter so far; I think some vege oil made it back to the
diesel tank last year. Here is my qusetion: my car runs really rich, blows
black smoke past half throttle. Do I turn the max fuel screw in (clockwise), or
out to reduce this smoke?
I am glad I took people's adivce to re-ring my pistons, even though the
cylinder wear exceeded specs. Seems to have more powere now. I'm trying to take
it easy for the wear in period (1st 500 miles).
