The Maxima was Datsun's large RWD sedan, like a Toyota Cressida. From ~81-83 they were available in the US with a dieselized version of the L28 gas inline six from the 280Z. Designated as LD28, it was a naturally aspirated 2.8L inline six, with chain driven SOHC, cast iron block and aluminum head. Very similar to MB stuff of the same vintage. Rated power was 80HP at 4600, 120ft-lbs at 2400. I worked on a number of them, don't recall any specific problems. Usually, the car rusted apart before the engine & drivetrain developed any problems.
