It can happen with most any rivited ring gear, although its supposed to be very rare on the diesel trannys (FF and FN at
least). The automatics are bolted.
I think the trannys can swap out, you may have some minor changes for the rear mount bracket, I think the A1 style has 3 studs
and the A2 style has some/all through holes for bolts.
