Having faced the problem many times , here is my tack on it. Faced with an =
unknown way of sealing ---do not get excited and use screwdriver prying etc.
If I know it is  silicon rubber i.e. Selastic  -- The cat is in the bag.
Loosen all nuts ---do not remove.Use a couple of snappy hookers or such hoo=
ked in oilfiller hole.Put some good pull on and go on to do something else.=
Steady pressure makes a lot of sealing compounds give up the grip.Work well=
 with Aviation gasket.   Soft permatex and the likes.    Piece of cake.    =
