[Vwdiesel] AC woes

Like I mentioned to Loren, be carefull using PAG oil in an old
R12 system. PAG oil is destroyed by free chlorine atoms that
came from the R12. Ester may not work WELL, but it doesn't break
down from chlorine, and is still carried by the R134A. To learn
a lot about AC systems, check out www.aircondition.com or contact
George Goble at Indiana Welding Supply. That guy knows more about
AC systems than anyone I've ever run into. He holds a patent on a
trinary compound refridgerant that's a drop in for R12 with mineral
oil. Not as cheap as R134A, but does a great job and no changes required
other than your ports.
