Gavrik I forgot to mention a really good simple test !!! . BLOWBY --just pu=
ll the hose from VC and hold your right hand in front of and speed the engi=
ne with left hand . Works here in the backwoods. The one with the ring-job =
done blows a lot less.     Now according to Mark Shepherd --take a wooden r=
uler and mount birthday candles every couple of inches. ---If your dipstick=
 hits the ceiling and it blows 10 candles ---you need a ring-job.         I=
 got a kick out of the fella that had to tie his dipstick down ------he ask=
ed if screen in VC could be blocked , I say yes---but easy to check just lo=
osen oil filler. If stick stays put clean screen.Boilout with caustic shoul=
d do.           Hagar.

PS : for newbies be careful if you run into a spear chugger ----it may run =
away on you ---they seem to run like crazy on oil from crankcase. I had no =
way of stopping a 1980 1.5L NA one time .I sat and waited and waited ---yea=
h it finally stopped by itself. RPM? 10 000+    ran smooth as silk.
