[Vwdiesel] help! stuck injector shield

The bigger hole sounds kind of like half of certain Mercedes shields.  I've
seem
them that are two parts.  A smaller one fits inside the main outer part.
Inner
part missing would sound about like what you describe.  You can try cranking
the engine over.  That often will blow a heat shield across the shop!  Do
lots
of scraping around the edge and some tapping around the edge with a good,
squared punch, just tapping.  You could run a screw or tap into the hole and
then pull or lever it out.  Or try blowing it out again.  Be sure there IS a
heat
shield in there.  I've seen them where it was hard to tell!
  No headlights could easily be a bad fuse/relay panel.  I've had one or two
apart to find broken solder joints and fixed them.  Both were the older,
non-blade fuse type.
