[Vwdiesel] re: runaways and CO2

I've never had a diesel run away, but if you're going to go through the
hastle of installing these CO2 cartridges, is it really that much more
work to re-do the engine so it doesn't happen?
Seems the easiest solutions are:
1)Have good rings
2)If run away occurs, put on brakes... If there's a VW diesel that can
overpower the brakes running on oil blowby, then we should look into
that as a fuel source for increasing power...

good idea - but it might be necessary to do some testing to determine
the
volume of co2 needed.

If the engine is running, on oil, with the key off (no fuel) and it is
running at let's say 6000 to 8000 rpm - if you blow 12 grams of co2 into
the intake, it might be enough to stop the combustion, however, will the
co2 last long enough to allow the engine to spool down?   If you blow
the
bottle at 6000 rpm, and  combustion stops - but then when the engine is
winding down and it gets to 1500 rpm what happens if the co2 is all
gone?????   it seems to me the engine would pick back up and start
hauling ass again.

I think a 1 lb bottle would suit me and my paranoia a little better -
howver, I am not opposed to some testing, and I am sure i could be
persuaded otherwise  if somebody actually tried it - i am only
speculating.
