To become a wizard here at the school of Hogswart one has to study "The Art=
" of injection .And I am a long way from giving up.Yesterday I dissected ab=
out 20 OLD rusty ,worn,carbon-plugged,in other words a REAL challenge. Abso=
lutely love these BOSCH creations , WHY ???? served my apprenticeship on s=
hitty delicate GM "Pencil" injectors. For you newbies these Injectors are a=
piece of cake to take apart and put together .Remember to use neversneeze =
on installation.Everything is covered in archives , with the exeption of id=
entifying Nozzles and Barrels by number. Here is what I found : There was =
two types of barrels , a LONG and a SHORT. The long one is used on the two =
1=2E6L engines I got. Also found two long barrels on a 1.5 L .Using a 800 n=
umber I got information that New nozzles are 21.29 dollars Canadian each f=
or the 1.6L (same part number for NA and Turbo) Most injectors that I teste=
d were breaking at about 1300 psi (too low) some were drippers and some we=
re stuck. The stuck needles would not move at 5000 psi .After cleaning with =
acetone , they were fine.My conclusion ??? the big footprints of crappy fu=
el was all over these injectors. There were signs of Water , particles , ex=
cessive wear. Numbers on nozzles 1.5L were all DN O SD193. some differ=
ent numbers could be found on 1.6L nozzles like SD 293. So the identifi=
cation by number is what I need at this time. One is a SD 273 and I don't k=
now what type of engine it came from.
There was signs that heatshields were not installed correctly (reused witho=
ut redimpling). Sure was fun. Hagar.
