car needs to meet DOT and EPA regs
there's a period, I think 96-98, where Canadian cars didn't have airbags but
they were required here, or something, so you can forget those
go '95 or pre or '99 or later (think I have those years right
you will need a Registered Importer (do a web search)
I brought a '93 Eurovan diesel in from Toronto 2 years ago for about 700.
