[Vwdiesel] Quantum TD overheating, new thermostat - no change

Thanks for the suggestions.
I don't believe it's a head gasket (yet)- no bubbles in the tank, no oil in 
water, no water in oil etc.
The car had been sitting for 6 yrs before I got it, and it ran hot from the 
time i got it. i flushed out a lot of rust, but I now think the problem may be:

blocked passageways in the head/block, and/or
marginally effective water pump due to corroded impeller.

     Another thing to check is the big radiator hose
colapsing. Not likely, but possible.

     If this came on slowly, you might have calcium
deposits in the radiator core. Possible a previous
owner had a leak and kept adding hard water.

     Let us know what you find.
