I disconnected the hoses at the back of the head, the 3 hoses at the back of
the water pump, and at the radiator. I got water to flow clear and fast pretty
much every which way.
After I buttoned up the system, the temp. needle stil went above the LED to
the next dot. The lower radiator hose got hot, but not as hot as the top hose.
I expected the electric fan to come on soon after the temp rose above the LED,
but they do use different sensors.
New thoughts:- flow through radiator is inadequate - too much recirculation
through block without heat rejection, leading to temp rise in block, indicated
by temp sensor on block.
Inadequate flow through radiator causes slow rise in radiator temp, fan
sensor still cool, delayed fan activation and slow rise in lower hose temp.
Time to reflush the radiator.
