A TD pump
does have a different part number and pumps more oil,
rumor has it.  I can confirm different part numbers as
I have both, 1.6TD and 1.6NA pumps.


  Not all TD pumps pump more oil.  :)  Those after 85 (hydraulic heads) 
appear to be the 36mm pumps.  Prior to that they used the 30mm/HD pumps 
and prior to that (84?) they used the 26mm pumps.  Just measure the 
height of the gears.  Diameter is all the same.
  I did the HV pump back when you had to get one for a 1.8 Audi and 
swap in the longer, diesel shaft.  Pain to have a new pump and have to 
use the old shaft with the end rounded a tad.  :(
