[Vwdiesel] Aftermarket CD changers

The unit in your car is made by Panasonic, and there are several 
aftermarket CD changers that will work in it.  The Panasonic DP610 
6-disc CD changer will plug in with an adapter, and will work directly 
off the head unit.  The sound quality is good to excellent.

Logjam on Yahoo used to sell the Panasonic changer for $179, but it's 
recently been discontinued.  I would check on VW Vortex classifieds to 
find a CD changer that will be compatible.  Shouldn't be much more than 
$100-150.
