When I first had this problem, I hoped that it would be something as
easy to fix as the release bearing.  At that time I couldn't find
anything wrong with the release bearing or the pushrod.

I don't think that my problem is related to these parts, but I will
check again.  Is the pushrod straight enough, if it appears straight
when one sights along it, or does it have to roll smoothly on a
surface plate?
