The early '81 engine had
a tendency to crack the block when torqing the head down.
This really only happens if the bolt holes aren't cleaned out well. Many
people just sort of clean them out and call it good. It is on most engines
but not the 11mm head bolt diesels! It'll crack them almost every time if
you're not careful.
