After pulling the engine/tranny as a unit from a couple of cars (A2 Jettas)
a couple of times for other reasons, I came to the conclusion that, for
clutch work, It's a lot easier to pull the engine/tranny and set it on a
work table where the tranny can be blocked to slide right out, and in,
without any strain. Also, getting the clutch centered and torqed down is a
quick 2 minute job without bending over.
Never again will I try a tranny in/out in the car!
Now, this is for non-A/C diesels with a minimum of plumbing and wiring.
Gassers with all that extra junk might be another thing all together.
