teflon shmeflon.... another intersting folk tale...

i knew a navy life saftey officer from vietnam. late 60's, teflon tape
appearantly was god's gift to the armed forces, it was used to seal the
threads on EVERYTHING, including the oxygen masks of pilots. until one day,
a shred of it clogged the regulator and some poor pilot supposedly died.
took a while to figure out what happened too.

as a wear plate, its great. bridge girder bearing pads, slick tape to put on
the table saw fence..etc...
