[Vwdiesel] intermediate shaft question

Hi all,

I've been replacing the oil seals on my 1.6NA, and when it came to the
intermediate shaft, it was a lot easier to just remove the outer cap
and change the seal than change the seal with the cap still on the
block.  I changed the outer seal, but in checking about putting it back
on, bentley mentions an o-ring that goes under the cap.  I found a
green colored o-ring in the gasket kit, but wanted to make sure this
was the right one.  There wasn't one under there when I pulled it off.
Instead, it looked like there was a gasket instead.  My question is, is
there a gasket or an o-ring for this?

Wow, this is confusing when it should be simple.
