European cars will always cost more than Japanese. And Japanese will always
cost more than Korean.

If you find the right dealer, you can get a new VW (even a new TDI) for $500
over invoice. Sometimes even cheaper. Or just do what I did and buy a used
one. I bought my 2000 Golf GLS with 45k miles for $14,600 back in March of
2002. Roughly $3500 less than a comparable new 2002 model at the time.

The MSRP for a fully loaded NB Cabrio is $25k. But of course, some
dealerships are only going to sell to the highest bidder. I've heard a
story of one lady that paid $35k for one off the showroom floor.
