[Vwdiesel] VAG-COM

I'm new to the ECM-based diesels, and recently bought a '03 Jetta TDI.

After a little searching, it appears that the VAG-COM package might be the
one for me.  But I don't know for sure.

I initially considered delaying the purchase until faced with problems
to attend to.  Recently, I've decided that purchasing sooner made sense,
because I could take baseline measurements.

Can anyone comment on this, and perhaps suggest what one might want to baseline?
