By baseline I'm assuming you mean measure when good so you have good values
to compare to when something goes bad? That's okay, Uwe is way ahead of you
there, the measuring blocks have the acceptable range displayed when you
measure them, along with the realtime data. This is pretty handy, helps to
pinpoint the origin of dtc's you may encounter, or to confirm the origin of
the dtc displayed. Can also tweak a few things to suit your climate, fuel
etc...

You want to work on your car, or just have some good background info when
you go to the dealer for a wallet pruning, you need this. I cannot
recommend it highly enough. I would imagine, if you go with the dtc's
printed out on paper, you would not expect to pay the "diagnostic" fee
associated with hooking their computer to the car and reading the codes. At
50-100 bucks a pop to do this if your MIL is on, only to find out a gas
station attendant left the tank cap loose, it pays for itself rather
quickly. I do not need to darken the dealer's shop floor at all with this in
my toolbox. It's as necessary to the mechanic these days as good wrenches
are... it's just another tool.
Uwe and Linda are also very nice people, and a pleasure to do business with.
You have questions, call him or email him from the Ross-tech website. He's
pretty cool, and really really smart.
