I use it in both my rigs and find that it provides an added measure of safety to the cooling system. It will not fix a poorly
working cooling system, nor will it lower the coolant temps in a thermostatically-controlled engine (that comment applies to
race engines that often run with simple resrictor plates in place of t-stats).
I had a fan clutch fail in my 4x4 one day in stop-n-go traffic, 100F temps and actually didn't even know it had failed except
for a small increase in the temp gauge. It was only a few days later on a cool night that I notice the heater didn't put out
much heat. Popped the hood and found the silicone oil sprayed out of the fan flutch. Then found the t-stat had failed open
(one of those "fail safe" t-stats). Replaced it, topped off the coolant (had Water Wetter in it) and all was fine. I'm certain
I would have overheated the engine if I didn't have the additive in there. Note that Redline makes a "Diesel Water Wetter" but
that is only intended for use on the big truck engine w/ sleeved pistons. Unlike some of the cooling system additives, Water
Wetter works fine with plain water and/or coolant mix. Some only work if used in plain water.
