[Vwdiesel] Weight of 1.6TD and trans?

I bit the bullet and rented an engine hoist to R & R
my TD engine. I posted the pics of the whole operation
on the VW-Audi Diesel Yahoo Groups. Check it out. See:

I think I paid about $80 for two days rental and they
delivered and picked up the hoist. It was well worth
it!
The pics show all of this, but I left the hood on and
took the engine and transaxle out through the top w/
the car supported on jack stands for access to the
underside stuff. The A/C compressor was unbolted, and
its lines left on and I just set it on the front
apron. Did not have to discharge the R-12.
I have a ratty old shop table I made and I slid it
under the engine/transaxle hanging from the hoist,
lowered them to the table, and w/ hoist still
attached, seperated the two. The newly rebuilt long
block I bought from Gary B. was lifted and attached to
my brand spanking new Harbor Freight engine stand
(About $65) with the help of my 15 year old, 210 Lb
son. (Right after I ordered the engine stand, I saw
one at a yard sale for $25!). I then swapped all the
engine stuff to the long block, replacing items that
were questionable, like injectors. The engine stand
was wonderful...Just rotate the block when needed to
gain access. Then I attched the hoist to the rebuilt
engine and took it off of the engine stand and added a
new clutch kit and attached the transaxle. I think in
total I spent about $1,200 for everything.
In terms of the head torquing, all the 90 degree
tightenings were done w/ the motor installed in the
car.
I actually removed the head from my old TD motor w/ it
on the garrage floor by putting my foot on the motor
while it was wedged in the corner. Worked quite well.
