[Vwdiesel] Weight of 1.6TD and trans?

I'm starting to think about pulling the 1.6TD and trans from my old '85
Jetta, but am wondering what the total weight is? I'm thinking of securing a
chain hoist to the ceiling of my garage so that I can lift it out, then also lift
onto an engine stand at some later date (I don't have a stand yet). I will
need to rebuild it at some point, but for now it will likely sit in a corner. My
garage has trusses with very wide span (34') but they are resting on two
24' girders to support a room above. I can't get access to the girders, but I
do gave attic access to the trusses, so I'm hoping that if I spread the
weight over several trusses with a 4x4 or 6x6, then drop a long bolt
through the ceiling with a hook on it, it will support the weight.

How does one remove and re-torque things like head bolts without a
vehicle preventing the engine from moving? Last time I did a head, I broke
a 1/2" breaker bar doing the final 90deg turn... Or is it best to do the final
torque in the car? Is it feasible to remove the engine/trans together? (I will
remove front apron, etc, and loosen engine/trans bolts first)

Last thing - I want to get this old body out of my yard before the end of
summer, hopefully a wrecker will pick it up, otherwise I'll have to move it
somehow. If anyone needs any parts from an '85 base model silver Jetta
with blue cloth interior, let me know. (near Victoria, BC).
