 Not sure, as we never saw the 1.9 IDI here in the U.S. The first TDIs
offered here were in 1996, in the Passat.

 We had no VW diesel offerings from 1992 with the ecodiesel on until the TDI
came, so there was no possibility of concurrent models here. Not sure about
Canada or the rest of the world.
