Could you use veg oil in a transmission....or sump....or overdrive? After all
its deemed a better lubricant than diesel in an injector pump

  I wouldn't do it.  In a pinch, I used fresh vegetable oil a couple times to
lube
a motor and house door hinge.  After a few weeks/months it had congealed
enough to ruin the motor and require cleaning of the hinges.  Think of
Linseed
oil and what it does when it sits open.
