If you think a "blotter test" can tell you more, and is more accurate, than
a scientific oil analysis, I have some oceanfront property in Arizona for
sale I want to show you. And a couple of bridges too.
The only non-sense I see on this list is coming from you. Your backwater
hillbilly tricks might have worked 30 years ago on carbureted motors using
straight-weight dino oil, but this is the 21st century. Wake up and enjoy
it. Do some research like I have. Then we can talk.
I strongly urge everyone (especially Hagar) to go to
http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi and learn a little bit
about oil before coming here and trying to lead people astray with your
ancient inaccurate oil tests.
Diesel oil is black because it's suspending soot. Diesel oil will turn
black almost instantly after an oil change. If your oil is black, it's
doing it's job. If your oil isn't black, I'd be worried.
I have a challenge for you Hagar. Take a sample of your oil after you drain
it when you think it should be changed. Use your "blotter test" but also
have your oil professionally analyzed. I personally recommend
www.avlube.com . Use the $18US test that also includes the TBN. You just
might be surprised that even though your "blotter" tells you it's time to
change the oil, the oil analysis says your oil is perfectly fine and doesn't
need changing.

Why now ???? because of that happy fella with the brand new Golf. (That's
what I was praying for but I did not have 25.000 to spare.) He should
start a ring binder right now.
That Texas wildcatter Oil tycoon --poo poo this so judge for yourselves 5
years from now. I did not invent the test , but I wish I had. It is by far
the best test ever devised dollar for dollar. Remember the drop on the
frying pan trick ? to detect water in lube ? Well this one is in a class
all by itself.
List of desirable equipment (all free for me) 3 ring binder and punch. A
stack of blotter paper. Will post type and where to get. A ball pen ----- and
let the fun begin. If you ever drive up this way along the west cost Hwy.
101 drop in and see my binders.
I use the test on ALL fluids on equipment . It will tell you when to change
brakefluid ,oils and coolants.
And contrary to nonsense coming out of Texas A drop a few days after an
oil-change is NOT black as "Tobys ass". he does not know what he is
talking about. I shall post a link here to an articleabout this system of
testing. Why the ring binder ? --because it is not an absolute test it is a
comparative system. My oldest tests are dated 1985. or so. More on
this later. Hagar.
PS: On the paper write date Miles(hours) type of oil type of filter and try
to use same type of paper all the time. sure is fun to look at 10 years
later.
