If in doubt go by VW instructions. ( Haynes and Bentley etc. is OK too) =
Now for the more inventive Volks --- investigate. The fact is that there is=
no silver bullet (economically) because each and every run will be differe=
nt. Some gensets with constant load is the exception. Why change at all? -=
-read on.

When you drain you MUST throw out good oil --- simple just think. So the =
game is to throw as little good oil out as possible. That's were the game b=
ecomes interesting. Here is what I did on one machine 743 Bobcat Kubota 4 cy=
linder diesel. --- Melroe said change oil and filter every 50 hours. So =
I did for 3 or 4 years. I use ESSO HDX 15W40 And do blotter tests regularl=
y=2EAfter looking at blotter and the cost -- it was time to contact Kubota.=
They instructed me to do 100 hours between changes . I now have the blott=
er library to compare.Interesting. Oil companies have vested interest so =
do the people who make the Diesel and finally the People who makes the Mach=
ine. This is were we come in.
Moral of the story ? --- I was throwing out more than 25 hours worth of=
good oil plus a filter. by the way ashless oil is oil with 0.1 % by w=
eight. or less. bet amsoil is not looking so good there. just kidding=
neither do any of the other syn's. more some other time. Hagar.

PS: We change oil because we think the engine will last longer if we do ,=
and a new engine is expensive. And one more very important reason ---- it=
 makes us feel good.
