I agree wholeheartedly about the complacent ones, they worry me the most! I
guess the difference in opinion is that with DRL's, I personally believe
I_can_see them coming sooner and its certainly in MY best interests to do
everything possible to make myself as visible as possible given the inattentiveness of
such a large proportion of the driving populace.
I do agree with the philosophy of "If I want my headlights on, I will turn
them on myself, thank you." because for me, its quite simply ALL the time. I
just worry about remembering to "turn them_off_myself, thank you." ; )
I do extensive driving in the open western states and I see oncoming vehicles
with their headlights on MUCH sooner than I see vehicles with their
headlights off. I_know_DRL's will also increase my own chances of being seen and
lessen my chances of draining my battery by leaving my headlights on.
I really enjoy these non-diesel specific discussions; I plan to convert my
caddy and vanagon to DRL's this summer and want to avoid any pitfalls in the
process. So far, tail lights seem to be a consistent primary concern in getting
the system right.
Anything else I need to watch for? Any good "kit" recommendations?
