When (due to crappy design) my 94 A3TD's headlight switch melted down, in a
firm resolve not to be a VW dealer patsy, I repaired it myself, and modified
it slightly so the parking and clearance lights are on any time the engine
is running. The headlights, I can turn off if I wish, (to signal someone or
for cold winter starts) but usually I leave them off. All the lights are
ko'd by the "X" relay, so all go out when key is turned off.
