  The article I read that said Mercedes was stopping diesel imports implied
that it was due to the inability or too marginal of an ability to meet the
coming
emission standards.  This was when they pulled out for a year then came
back.  It was stated that was VW's reason at that time as well.  It wasn't
TDI's but it WAS diesels.  <shrug>
