Hi ,
I need some one to tell me how to get the speedo pointer off my '89 speedo =
on my A2 Jetta. I have been using a speedo from a '86 that I had to fix the=
 odo on. On the Odo's I have the silver gear slips on the right end of the =
main odo shaft. This in turn causes the both the trip odo and main odo not =
to work. The pointer on the '86 came right off and I don't want to damage t=
he odo /speedo on the '89 since the speedo is accurate. The speedo from the=
 '86 I'm using seems to be ten or so fast.

I also agree with Harmon about loud bikes. If I drove around w/o a muffler =
I'd be ticketed in a second. We have a noise ordinance for loud music if it=
 can be heard from 75 feet or further away. The sad thing thing is that if =
a Harley can be heard from a 1/4 mile away nothing is done. The police here=
 say that the noise ordinance only applies to music from cars. I have a nei=
ghbor that comes home at 2 am on a Harley w/o a muffler and leaves again at=
 6:50 am. Believe me after a hard day at work the last thing you want is to=
 be woken out of a sound sleep by a blasting bike. It's just that like the =
helmet law issue, the bike folks have  a good lobby and vote against things=
 effecting them. We as Dieselers should take a cue from that and stick up f=
or ourselves ~~ voting and making our voices heard. Sorry about the rant an=
