I dunno, I replaced the fuel filter on Mom's 2000
Jetta TDI and I was amazed at the amount of cranking I
had to do to get the fuel flowing again. Seems like it
was a total of 2 - 3 minutes, but in short (10 sec)
bursts to prevent starter overheating. On the IDI
diesels I have a $8 or so Harbor Freight hand suction
pump I connect to the "Fuel Out" connector on the
filter and I suck the filter full of fuel before
connecting the line. Fires right up!
